Creative individuals who see no boundaries.

The idea or execution takes precedence and the semantics come later. New avenues are regularly explored to express their creativity and from this we are gifted with art from such characters as Daniel AKA @dmalikyar.

What inspires your personal photography style?

My photography style is inspired by the way I feel the moment I take a photograph. I always hope to spark the emotion of the viewer and tell a story within each frame. I want my work to be something they stop and think about rather than scroll right through.

What are some of the defining moments in your career so far?

I think the three most defining moments in my career so far have been launching my own creative agency – MGX Creative, becoming Marshmello’s Creative Director, and becoming an official FUJIFILM X-Photographer.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

My dream collaboration is a documentary-driven philanthropic project with the people of Afghanistan to shed light on the beauty, reality, and spirit of the culture that is never shown in the media.

My entire ancestry comes from Afghanistan, and although it is not the safest place in the world I’m planning on making the project happen this year. All proceeds and benefits would go to the children of Afghanistan in hopes of giving them a better life through building resources for them to be able to both better their education and skills outside of the classroom – specifically within the worlds of soccer and photography

What other Artists are you currently following?

These days with social media and the oversaturation of content it’s almost impossible to keep up with the amount of talent across the world. As of late I’ve been really inspired by the work of artists like Steve McCurry and Vivian Maier in the photography space.

The coolest person I’ve ever worked with has to be Snoop Dogg. Growing up in LA Snoop was an icon – one of the most humble and laid back artists I’ve met by far.

What is your favourite location in your hometown to shoot?

When I first got really into photography I used to explore all over LA. When I felt like I’d covered just about all the ground the city had, I decided to shoot from a helicopter during sunset. That flight completely changed my perspective. There’s nothing like hanging out of a helicopter over my hometown and being able to capture it from angles I never really thought I’d ever see.

Any recent projects?

I had the chance to direct and produce a project with Will Ferrell that plays as the intro video to Marshmello’s newest tour. Will was such a cool dude, never thought I’d have the chance to cross paths with him. I have a couple unreleased projects I directed for FUJIFILM and Marshmello that are coming out soon as well.

In addition to taking epic photos what else keeps you busy?

Aside from photography I’ve been directing and developing some exciting projects that I’m excited to put out this year.
